The use of copper implements in agriculture results in a distinct improvement in the quality and yield of field fruits. This was the result of experimental work in the 1950s. The Austrian biologist Viktor Schauberger attributed this to particles of copper left behind by gardening tools and agricultural machines.
He was not the first to recognise this. Highly developed past civilisations such as Imperial China consistently renounced the use of iron when working the soil.
A small Austrian company manufactures garden tools using copper alloy(copper+tin=bronze). The copper rubs off during use and is absorbed by the soil. All tools are cold forged by hand. Copper alloy is considerably lighter than iron. This together with lime wood handles results in very light and handy tools.
