Blocker
Many commercial horticultural enterprises use blocking machines to produce soil blocs for propagation - because it is efficient, cheap and creates good size plugs with a high rate of establishment after planting out.
For the smaller - but not less committed - grower a dedicated English company has specialized in manufacturing hand blockers. All are hand made from steel and zinc plated for durability - and, as the makers proudly say: ". designed for minimum effort and maximum reliability".
With the Professional Blocker it is easy to produce quantities of blocs - either in batches of 20 blocs of 38x38x50mm or 12 blocs 50x50x50mm.
The Hand Blocker 860 is ideal for the hobby gardener. Capacity: 4 blocs 50x50x50.
The Micro 20 creates 20 x 2cm blocs (3/4") to start seeds off. When the plants are ca. 2" high they should be 'transplanted' into the bigger blocs - which can be made with indentations to take the Micro blocs. - This system requires less space and heating during germination compared to big blocs.
