’Lithothamnium Calcareum’ is the name of the red seaweed which grows on the seabed into a white coral structure. The white colour comes from the high amount of Calcium. Calcified Seaweed is an important soil improver: Calcium (CaO) helps to ’sweeten’ the soil, while the minerals and trace elements stimulate the activity of the soil life. This results in:
- increased soil fertility
- stronger root growth
- improved soil structure
- balanced mineral supply.
Seagreen K and Seagreen Slag are based on Calcified Seaweed with added Rockpotash and/or Rockphosphate. These products are an essential part in our range of soil conditioning fertiliser which not only adjust the pH and ’feed the soil but at the same time increase levels of P and K.
Seagreen K and Seagreen Slag are finely milled. Soil bacteria will break the particles down in a permanent process which can last up to three years. During this period the minerals and trace elements are made available to the crop continuously.
