STRAWBERRY SEED BEETLE

This black beetle 1cm (0.5in) long, removes seeds from the outside of the fruit.
Damage will look very simillar to bird damage.
They also sometimes eat intStrawberry Beetle advice from Fruit Hill Farmo the fruit itself. Fruits therefore shrivel and rot. Strawberry seed beetles are also attracted by weed seeds, so keeping the strawberry patch weed-free should help reduce numbers. Sinking jam jars into the soil so they fall in might help. Avoid chemicals because these beetles feed near harvest time.
Keep bed and surrounding area free of weeds.
There are no predators available.
