Basil with a strong fragrant lemon scent. For use in tea and cooking. 

The plant's narrow, ovate, light green leaves reach two inches long, producing lemon-scented white flowers and seeds. Lemon basil should never reach flowering during the harvesting periods, once left to flower its flavour is sacrificed and the leaves wilt and toughen.

  • Pick the leaves and use fresh or dried in vinegars, with fish, vegetables or added to soups.
  • As with most basil varieties, lemon basil should only be cooked briefly so as not to sacrifice its flavour and aromatic qualities.
  • Sowing instructions: Sow end March - April. Sow seeds in a seed tray cover seeds with 0.3 - 0.5cm moist compost. Place seed trays in a warm (min 20celsius), light place.
  • Growing instructions: Transfer seedlings into small pots. Grow the plants on in a warm place and plant outside only in June or plant in a greenhouse at a spacing of 25x25 cm
