Bird Control - Hawk Kite
A professional quality self launching bird scaring kite. Kites which mimic birds of prey evoke instinctive survival responses from birds. As a result the birds become spooked and less likely to settle on crops. This large realistic kite has flexible wings that adjust to wind speed and is specially designed to swoop and dive like a real falcon. The range of flight is always changing with the kite so birds don't become accustomed to its patterns.
The kit consists of a durable aluminium pole, anti-tangle spinning top, extra stregth line and a professional hawk kite. The pole can be simply tied to a fence post or any solid structure. To minimise the chance of the kite becoming tangled on the pole, the pole should be angled with the direction of the prevailing wind.

The Peregrine Falcon
The peregrine falcon is the fastest bird in the world and dives at speeds over 300km when hunting other birds. Peregrine populations suffered dramatic declines in Ireland during the 60s when the use of the pesticide DDT caused weakened eggshells and breeding problems. They are now making a recovery throughout the country and can even by found relocated from their natural upland habitats into cities and towns. As birds of prey such as the peregrine falcon keep corvids (crow species) and other birds in check, their absence has allowed higher populations of crows to establish in Ireland.
