Landsberger Mix 70% cert. org.

This combination of green manures is named after the German town of Landsberg.

It is one of the best Autumn greenmanures, it has te capacity to mop up any nutrients left over from the previous crop ánd fix more Nitrogen for the next crop.

It has an above-average capacity for humus reproduction and leaves the soil in excellent condition.

Landsberger Mix provides large quantities of fresh and dry matter with excellent feed value and good root structure.

The growth can be grazed, used as fresh feed, ensiled or left as a mulching cover crop.

Composition: 40% Italian Ryegrass, 30% Crimson Clover,  30% Pannonische Vetch

Sowing rate: 62 kg/ha     25kg/acre     1kg/200m2

Sowing time: late August – end September

All cover crops should be either tilled in, (mulch)mowed low to the ground, or smothered by (organic) mulches before they go to seed.

As green manure foliage decomposes it releases compounds that can inhibit germination. This is especially true of grazing rye. It is therefore not advisable to sow seeds immediately after digging in a green manure. Transplants and large seeded crops are not effected. Leave direct seeding for at least 3 to 4 weeks after incorporating greenmanures.

How to sow green manures –

  • Prepare a reasonable seed bed.
  • Broadcast or drill seeds.  If you have a large area to cover it is a good idea to divide the seed and the land into 4 parts to avoid running out of seed.
  • Rake, roll in and water if soil is dry.
