Kohlrabi 'Azur Star'
Kohlrabi ‘Azur Star’ produces delicious blue-purple stems with crisp white flesh which can be eaten both raw and cooked. It matures quickly and doesn’t tend to go woody. This variety is suitable for cultivation both indoors and outdoors. It has very good bolt resistance in cold temperatures and so can be sown early or late. Each packet contains approximately 70 organic seeds. More details below.
Organic Kohlrabi 'Azur Star' Seed
Growing schedule: Sow under cover from February or direct outside from April to July. Sow successively for a continuous supply. Early sowings will be ready to harvest from June.
Sowing depth: 1cm
Planting distance: Space plants 25 x 25cm apart in a greenhouse or polytunnel; 30 x 30cm on open ground.
Growing conditions: Kohlrabi prefers full sun with some shelter and moist, fertile, well-draining soils. If soils are very acidic, add lime.
Crop rotation: Kohlrabi is a brassica and should be grouped in planting rotation plans with other members of the Brassicaceae family such as cabbage, kale, rocket, turnip and radish.
Harvest: Kohlrabi is a fast-growing vegetable and can be ready to harvest from three months after sowing.
Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 70 organic seeds, enough for 60 plants.
