Seeds for Bees
Give the bees a helping hand with these seeds specially selected to attract bees.
Honey bees fly at a speed of about 25km per hour and beat their wings 200 times per second. The average worker bee lives for just five to six weeks. During that time she produces about a twelfth of a teaspoon on honey. The Queen however, can live up to five years and during an active summer can produce about 2,500 eggs per day. Bee's must visit 2 million flowers to make 1lb of honey, meaning one hive of bees will fly over 55,000 miles to produce it.
Here is a very good PDF from the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan about attracting bees to your gaden. (PDF will open in new tab)
