At less than 65cm tall, Roto’s low profile design can nestle undisturbed in almost any garden and help gardeners to produce quality compost in a single, self-contained unit. Benefiting from a weatherproof, rodent resistant and maintenance free design, everytumbler is manufactured from recyclable polyethylene. For ease of use and access, the tumbler incorporates a wide access entry and discharge lid.

What to compost

Anything that was once living will compost (however, red items should be avoided)   For best results, use a mixture of types of ingredient. The right balance is something learnt by experience, but a rough guide is to use equal amounts by volume of greens and browns.  Some things, like grass mowings and soft young weeds, rot quickly. They work as 'activators', getting the composting started, but on their own will decay to a smelly mess. Older and tougher plant material is slower to rot but gives body to the finished compost.

Green

Raw vegetable waste, tea bags, coffee grounds, young soft growth (avoid seeds), soft green prunings, bracken, animal manure (small amounts), poultry manure and straw bedding, comfrey, nettles, grass cuttings.

Brown

Soft cardboard, shredded paper, hay, straw, wood shavings, tough hedge trimmings (shred first), natural fibres (wool, cotton), hair, small amounts of wood ash.

Red – do not compost

Meat, fish, cooked food, disposable nappies, coal ash, BBQ ash, egg shells, dog and cat faeces, plastic, any diseased plant matter.
