Elemental Sulphur

  • The vast majority of sulphur is recovered from natural gas and oil, which contain hydrogen sulfide and a wide variety of organic compounds that contain sulphur.
  • 90% Sulphur.
  • Lowers pH in alkaline soils.
  • Also useful as a soil amendment around acid loving plants such as blueberries, azaleas and rhododendrons.
  • To lower pH by one point broadcast approximately 5kg. per 100 mt2and work into the soil. (We recommend a soil test to determine actual rates.)
  • Do NOT exceed more than two applications per year.
  • Sulphur is an essential plant nutrient.  It provides indirect nutritive value as soil amendments, especially for calcareous and saline alkali soils. Also improves the use efficiency of other essential plant nutrients, particularly nitrogen and phosphorus. Sulphur is necessary for plant growth and nutrition.
  • Approved for use on organic holdings subject to approval from your certification body.

User’s Tip

  • Changes in soil pH occur slowly. It may take a couple of months or longer to see a difference.
  • Elemental sulphur is one of the oldest fungicides and pesticides.
  • Sulphur is probably the oldest known pest management product in use. The Greek poet, Homer, described the benefits of “pest-averting sulphur” 3,000 years ago. The Greeks also recognized its efficacy against rust diseases on wheat.
  • Prevents powdery mildew, rose black spot, scab, rusts, and other diseases. (Sulphur prevents fungal spores from germinating, so it must be applied before the disease develops for effective results.)
  • Can be used as a dust, wettable powder, paste or liquid.
  • Controls red mites , white fly, thrips, some Homoptera, and gall midges.

Directions for Use

  • For the control of powdery mildew, rust, black spot, and scab. May be dusted directly onto plants or bulbs, or mixed with water for foliar spray application. For a liquid spray, mix at a rate of 10 g/Litre of water. Agitate while spraying to avoid settling.
  • Can be used up to one day before harvest on all crops except wine grapes which require a 21 day interval.
  • Do not apply at temperatures 24° C or higher.
  • Do not apply to cucumbers, melon and squash.
  • To lower pH by one point broadcast approximately 5kg. per 100 mt2and work into the soil. (We recommend a soil test to determine actual rates.)
  • Do NOT exceed more than two applications per year.
  • Keep sulphur dust to a minimum as it readily catches fire.
  • Keep away from flames or sparks.
  • Sulphur may irritate nasal passages, skin and eyes - always wear protective clothing when handling sulphur.
