10L Silage Additive
Precision Microbes Silage Additive is a liquid formulation containing lactic acid forming bacteria which can be dosed into bales or silage clamps to improve the fermentation process. Approved for use on organic holdings. More details below.
Precision Microbes Silage Additive
The ensiling of grass is the main method of forage conservation employed in Ireland. The two core principles of ensiling any crop are the creation of a stable anaerobic environment, followed by a controlled microbial fermentation of the harvested crop. Preserving your silage is largely dependent on the activities of Lactic Acid Forming Bacteria (known as LAB) in a well-sealed clamp or well-wrapped bale.
Precision Microbes’ Silage Additive is a ready-to-use means of delivering an effective level of Live Homofermentative LAB into your silage clamp and bales. These microbes produce high levels of the key preservation acid, Lactic Acid. The Lactic Acid produced by these LAB are responsible for positively influencing the outcome of silage fermentation within your silage pits and silage bales. This is the process which protects the dry matter content and nutritive value of your silage. Homofermentative LAB produce TWICE as much Lactic Acid from every molecule of Glucose and SIX TIMES as much Lactic Acid from every molecule of Fructose, compared to their heterofermentative counterparts.
