Organic Asparagus 'Vegalim' Crowns

Asparagus grows best in well drained sandy soil. Plant the crowns about 20cm apart in rows about 45cm apart. Let the plants go to seed for the first couple of years and feed them well to build up energy in their roots. You can then begin harvesting them sustainably for many years.

• 2-3 years to establish a strong root system -resist picking, let the plant go to seed
• Harvest from the 3rd year - March, April, May
• Keep the bed weed free and protect from slug damage
• Add a mulch annually in the autumn

Once you receive your dormant asparagus crowns, store them in a cool, dry place until planting. Before planting, soak the crowns in water for about 2 hours to rehydrate the roots.
