Cabbage 'Mayo Common'
This large-headed Dutch type cabbage comes from the Irish Seed Savers Association. When sown in late spring, it produces large, light-green heads that over-winter well. Each pack contains aproximately 250 organic seeds. More details below.

Organic Cabbage 'Mayo Common' seeds
Growing schedule: Sow in modules from March to early May for transplanting outdoors (after hardening off) from April.
Sowing depth: 1cm
Germination: Cabbage will germinate between 7-29°C, with 15-20°C the optimal temperature range.
Planting distance: 50 x 50 cm
Growing conditions: Cabbage grows best in full sun but can tolerate some light shade. It prefers fertile, moist, well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter. Cabbage can tolerate a slightly alkaline pH - add lime to particularly acidic soil, especially where clubroot might be an issue.
Crop rotation: Cabbage is a brassica and should be grouped in planting rotation plans with other members of the Brassicaceae family such as kale, broccoli, kohlrabi, rocket, turnip, mustard leaf and radish.
