Endive 'Mascha'

Endive is a nutritious leafy vegetable with a distinctive bitter flavour. This new variety; 'Mascha' has been developed from 'Diva' and forms large densely-filled heads forming abundant green leaves. This is an early, self-blanching endive variety which can be sown later in the year for late harvest. It can be eaten raw in salads or gently steamed and makes a delicious addition to mashed potato. Each packet contains 0.3g, approx. 200 organic seeds, sufficient for approx 150 plants. More details below. 

Organic Endive 'Mascha' Seeds

Growing schedule: Sow in modules or in situ outdoors from June to July. For a winter/spring harvest, sow in August for growing on indoors.

Sowing depth: 1cm

Planting distance: 30 x 40cm

Germination: The ideal germination temperature is 20-22°C.

Growing conditions: Endives prefer fertile, moist, well-draining soil but can do well in most soil types. They tend to bolt in hot dry conditions so keep soil moist.

Harvest: Endive is ready to harvest once leaves are big enough to eat. It usually takes 80-90 days to mature from sowing.

Number of seeds: Each packet contains 0.3g, approx. 200 organic seeds, sufficient for approx 150 plants.
