Squarrose clover (Trifolium squarrosum) is an annual winter hardy clover species. Usually taller and more vigorous than other annual clovers such as crimson clover. More details below.

  • Annual, upright, tall, N fixing.
  • Long taproot.
  • This plant belongs to the autumn-spring cycle, adequately resistant to the cold as it can tolerate temperatures of -10°C at its rosette stage.
  • Produces lots of organic matter.
  • Good for soil structure.
  • Easy to dig in.
  • High in nutritional value but it contains less fat than Egyptian and Crimson Clovers.
  • Excellent for hay.
  • 30-40 Kg/Ha

Did you know?

  • Clover fixes nitrogen from the air in its root nodules and when chopped and dug into the soil the nitrogen store is released very quickly.
  • As well as fixing a high amount of nitrogen, clovers long tap root can lift minerals and nutrients from deep in the soil strata to help improve the quality of following crops.
