Larkspur, Mixed Colours

Larkspur (Delphinium ajacis) is an annual with a bright profusion of colourful blossoms and rich feathery green foliage on tall stems. This is a mix of white, violet and pink flowers. Ideal as a cut flower, larkspur is perfect for flower arrangements or for bringing colour to the garden throughout the summer. This seed is suitable for professional flower growers. Each packet contains approximately 100 organic seeds. More details below.

Organic Larkspur (Delphinium ajacis) Seeds

Characteristics:

  • Annual
  • Colour mix: white, violet and pink
  • Height: 50-100cm
  • Note: all parts of this plant are poisonous to animals and humans

Growing schedule: Sow direct outside from April to early June for flowering between June and September. Alternatively, sow in September for an earlier flowering the following year.

Sowing depth: 1cm

Germination: Larkspur seeds needs a period of cold stratification to germinate well. Place the seeds in a ziplock bag with some damp perlite and leave in the fridge for two weeks before sowing. Seeds won’t usually germinate at temperatures higher than 18°C.

Planting distance: 20 x 20 cm

Growing conditions: Larkspurs need a sunny sheltered position and moist but well-draining soil that isn’t too rich.

Ongoing care: Plants may require staking. After the first flush of flowers, cut the plant down to 10-15cm and it may flower again in early autumn.

Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 100 organic seeds, enough for 80 plants.
