Organic (Lathyrus odoratus) Sweet Pea Colour Mix Seeds

Characteristics:

  • Annual
  • Flowers in a mix of pink, purple and white.
  • Height: 150-200cm
  • Sweet peas are poisonous when consumed over time and should be grown separately from edible peas to avoid confusion.

Growing schedule: Sow from March under cover or direct outdoors from April. Flowers will bloom from June to September. Alternatively, sow under cover from late September to October and overwinter in an unheated greenhouse or polytunnel for an earlier flowering the following year.

Sowing depth: 1-2cm

Planting distance: 10 x 10cm

Growing conditions: Sweet peas require full sun and fertile, well-draining soil. They will not thrive in wet, shaded conditions or poor soil.

Ongoing care:

  • Sweet pea is a climbing plant and will require support as it grows upwards.
  • When plants are 10 – 20cm tall, pinch out the tips and plants will grow more bushy and robust.
  • Remove dead flower heads to encourage more flowering.

Harvest: Sweet peas can be harvested as a cut flower once the lowest flower on the stem has fully opened.

Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 30 organic seeds, enough for 20 plants.
