Sage
Sage (Salvia officinalis) is a hardy perennial herb with soft grey-green leaves. Aromatic in flavour, it is commonly used in cooking and herbal teas; and has traditionally been used as a medicinal herb. It has pretty blue flowers which bloom in late summer. Each packet contains 1.25g of organic seed. More details below.
Organic Sage (Salvia officinalis) Seeds

Growing schedule: Sow indoors from late March or direct outdoors from late April to May. Growth in the first year tends to be very slow.
Sowing depth: 0.5cm
Germination: The ideal germination temperature is 15-20°C. This may be achieved on a propagator or a warm windowsill.
Planting distance: 40 x 50cm
Growing conditions: Sage is a Mediterranean plant which enjoys full sun and well-draining soil. It dislikes having wet feet and will suffer in heavy or waterlogged soils.
Ongoing care: Plants can become more woody and less flavoursome after several years. To slow this process down, keep well pruned.
Harvest: Pick leaves as required. Due to slow growth in the first year, sage is usually only ready to harvest from the second year onwards.
Number of seeds: Each packet contains 1.25g of organic seed.
