Growing schedule: Sow indoors from late March or direct outdoors from late April to July. Growth in the first year tends to be very slow.
Sowing depth: 0.5cm
Germination: The ideal germination temperature is 15-20°C. This may be achieved on a propagator or a warm windowsill.
Planting distance: 40 x 50cm
Growing conditions: St. John's Wort enjoys full sun and well-draining soil. It dislikes having wet feet and will suffer in heavy or waterlogged soils.
Ongoing care: This native species needs little care
Use: St. John's Wort is most commonly used in tincture form for mild/moderate depression and mood disorders. Please do not use without the advice of your herbalist or doctor, as it may interact with other medications.
