Stevia is a well known sweetener and estimated to be 30 times sweeter than sugar beet.  Leaves can be dried to sweeten herbal tea mixes. Each packet contains 25 organic seeds. More details below.

Organic Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) Seeds

Characteristics:

  • Perennial
  • Flowers: small white
  • Height: approx 30-40 cm
  • Spread: 40cm

Growing schedule: Sow indoors from March to April. Plant to it's final position in May.  Stevia is not frost hardy so does well in a tunnel, glasshouse or on a sunny windowsill indoors

Sowing depth: 0.5cm

Germination: The ideal germination temperature is 20°C. This may be achieved on a propagator or a warm windowsill. It can take up to 3 weeks to germinate!

Planting distance: 40 x 40cm

Growing conditions: Stevia enjoys full sun and well-draining soil. It prefers warm but not too hot conditions

Ongoing care: Pinching back promotes compact growth

Use: Dried/fresh leaves can be used as a sweetner
