Organic 'Natalino' Broccoli Seeds

Growing schedule: Sow indoors from January to March and transplant into the polytunnel for an early summer crop. Sow from late March up to early June for transplanting outdoors after hardening off.

Sowing depth: 1 cm

Germination: Seeds usually germinate in around 5-10 days at a temperature of 12 - 25°C.

Planting distance: 40 cm between plants; 50 cm between rows

Growing conditions: Broccoli grows best in full sun but can tolerate some light shade. It prefers fertile, moist, well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter. Broccoli can tolerate a slightly alkaline pH - add lime to particularly acidic soil, especially where clubroot might be an issue. Hollow stems may indicate a boron deficiency.

Crop rotation: Broccoli calabrese is a brassica and should be grouped in planting rotation plans with other members of the Brassicaceae family such as kale, brussels sprouts, kohlrabi, rocket, turnip, mustard leaf and radish.

Harvest: Early crop will be ready from May-July while later sowings can be harvested in Sept and Oct.

Number of seeds: Each pack contains 1.25g of organic seed.
