Growing schedule:  For growing outdoors, sow kale seeds from April to June. Kale can also be sown in late summer for growing on indoors - plants can then be harvested as baby leaf kale or left to come to maturity in early spring. Seed can be sown direct or in modules - but modules should not be allowed to become root-bound.

Sowing depth: 1 - 2 cm

Germination: Ideal germination temperature is 7-30 °C, 4 - 7 days.

Planting distance: 40 x 75cm

Growing conditions:  It grows best in moist, well-draining soil with medium fertility. Kale can survive frosty conditions, but growth will slow down considerably over the winter.

Harvest: Harvest when young for salads, grow on for a vegetable for cooking. Excellent in stir-fries, smoothies and colcannon.

Crop rotation: Kale is a brassica and should be grouped in planting rotation plans with other members of the Brassicaceae family such as cabbage, broccoli, kohlrabi, rocket, turnip, mustard leaf and radish.

Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 200 organic seeds.

*A landrace is a domesticated, locally adapted, often traditional variety of a species of animal or plant that has developed over time, through adaptation to its natural and cultural environment of agriculture and pastoralism, and due to isolation from other populations of the species. Landraces are distinct from cultivars and from standard breeds.  (Wikipedia)
