Tomato 'Zuckertraube'
‘Zuckertraube’ is a vigorous, heavy cropping variety of tomato that produces long trusses of relatively large cherry tomatoes. The name ‘Zuckertraube’ means ‘sugar grape’ in German - and indeed the fruits are particularly sweet! Each packet contains approximately 22 organic seeds. More details below.
Organic 'Zuckertraube' Tomato Seed
Growing schedule: Sow seeds inside in mid Feb to early April using a propagator, heating mat or lidded seed tray on a sunny windowsill. Plant under cover in late April or May.
Sowing depth: 3-6mm
Germination: Tomato seeds germinate best at a temperature of 20-24°C. A heated propagator is the ideal place to start off tomatoes early in the year.
Planting distance: 40 - 60cm between plants and 75cm between rows
Growing conditions: Tomatoes need full sun and rich, moist, well-draining soil.
Ongoing care:
- ‘Zuckertraube’ tomatoes grow tall and need to be supported with either canes or string.
- Pick off side-shoots as they emerge and remove any yellowing branches below the lowest truss of fruits.
- Once the first fruit has set, feed plants every week or two with a liquid feed high in potassium such as Vinasse Tomato and Plant Food.
Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 22 seeds, enough for 15 plants.
