'Valdor' is a very early butterhead lettuce for a first crop in the spring. This variety has good resistance to cold, wet conditions and to botrytis. It is highly suitable for winter cultivation in unheated greenhouses and polytunnels. 'Valdor' has lovely soft leaves with good colour and taste. Each packet contains 1.25g of organic seed. Growing schedule: Sow from late January to April; or sow from August to early October for autumn picking and for overwintering. 'Valdor' is well-suited to outdoor cultivation in autumn and late spring but will do best under cover over the winter. Sow successively for continuous cropping.

Sowing depth: Cover with only a thin layer of soil as lettuce seeds need light to germinate.

Germination: Ideal germination temperature is 10-15 °C, max. 18°C.

Planting distance: Space plants 25 x 25 cm apart in a greenhouse or polytunnel; in open ground ca. 30 x 30 cm.

Growing conditions: Lettuce doesn’t do well in high temperatures – it enjoys full sun, but may benefit from partial shade in the hotter months of the year. It grows best in moist, well-draining soil.

Harvest: Cut heads from February (for crops sown in Autumn and grown indoors) to June (for crops sown in early Spring).

Number of seeds: Each pack contains 1.25g of organic seed.
