Organic 'Hilari' Leek Seeds

Sowing schedule: Sow seeds in trays from February to May for planting outside when around 1cm thick and around 20cm high.

Sowing depth: 6mm

Germination: Leek seeds will germinate from around 7°C, with an ideal germination temperature of 16-18°C. Earlier sowings can be placed on gentle heat or on a warm windowsill to improve germination.

Planting distance: Plant out at a distance of 8-15 cm between plants and 30-40 cm between rows.

Growing conditions: Leeks prefer full sun in moist, rich, well-draining soil. Add plenty of well-rotted manure to the site before planting out.

Ongoing care:  Earth up around the base of the leek stems several times over the growing season to ensure a good length of blanched white stem.

Harvest: This variety must be harvested before winter - from July to October.

Number of seeds: Each packet contains 1.25g of organic seed.
