Winter Squash / Pumpkin 'Green Hokkaido'
'Green Hokkaido' is a trailing Hokkaido pumpkin variety with green skin and bright yellow/orange flesh. It has a delicious, rich, nutty flavour and the skin is edible too. Pumpkins grow to 1.5-2kg and store well over the winter months. Each pack contains approximately 10 organic seeds. More details below.
Organic Pumpkin 'Green Hokkaido' Seed
Sowing schedule: Sow under cover in pots from April to June and plant out after all risk of frost has passed. Sow direct outside from mid-May to early June.
Sowing depth: Sow seeds around 2-3cm deep. Sowing on their edge rather than flat may improve germination.
Germination: Pumpkin seeds will germinate best at temperatures above 20 °C.
Planting distance: Each plant needs 1m².
Growing conditions: Pumpkin plants prefer full sun and fertile, moist, well-draining soil. Add plenty of manure.
Harvest: ‘Green Hokkaido’ pumpkins reach maturity after around 110 days. Harvest before the first frost, in September or October.
Storage: This variety can be stored for 3-4 months after harvesting. Store in a dark place at 10-15°C.
Number of seeds: Each pack contains approximately 10 organic seeds, enough for 7 plants.
