Winter Squash 'Red Kuri'
‘Red Kuri’ is a trailing Hokkaido squash which produces beautiful round orange fruits with yellow flesh, weighing up to 1.5kg each. They have a creamy texture with a delicious, slightly nutty flavour when cooked and the skin is soft and edible too. Each packet contains approximately 10 organic seeds. More details below.
Organic 'Red Kuri' Pumpkin Seed
Sowing schedule: Sow under cover in pots from April to early June and plant out after all risk of frost has passed. Sow direct outside from mid-May to early June.
Sowing depth: Sow squash seeds around 12mm deep. Sowing on their edge rather than flat will improve germination.
Germination: Pumpkin seeds germinate at temperatures above 20°C.
Planting distance: Each plant needs 1m².
Growing conditions: Squash plants prefer full sun and fertile, moist, well-draining soil. Add plenty of manure.
Harvest & Storage: ‘Red Kuri’ take around 110 days to reach maturity and should be harvested before the first frost, in September or October. After harvesting, squash should be stored in a dark place at 10-15°C.
Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 10 organic seeds, enough for 7 plants.
