Bee and Butterfly Flower Mix
This fantastic mix of flower seeds will attract and nurture bees and butterflies and other insects all season long, taking their demands on their species specific foraging plants into account. The meadow will provide both pollen and nectar to maintain hive health. All the flowers chosen produce high quality pollen. In Winter birds will feed on the seeds.
A long flowering aspect from early flowering species to midsummer species guarantees a continuous source of collection. Annual species ensure first year flowering plants, replaced by attractive perennial varieties in subsequent years. It can be applied along paths, on ledges and also in long-term field margins. Grows up to 140cm tall.
It is important to properly prepare your site before sowing the seed.
- Remove weeds or cover for at least three months prior to sowing.
- Free the ground of vegetation.
- Fine soil for seed sowing is ideal.
- Dig or rotovate the soil.
- Firm and rake to make a seedbed.
- Allow four to six weeks for the soil to settle.
- A single mowing in late autumn or, even better, in spring is sufficient.
- Ideally, you don't mulch, but mow and clear away the grass cuttings.
