The common, or field, poppy (Papaver rhoeas) is the classic red poppy with large bright red flowers. In the right setting they are easy to grow and self seeding, these flowers can thrive for many years. Great for attracting polinators as they provide lots of pollen. Conventional untreated seed. Poppy (Papaver ehoeas) Seed

Bright red flowers and beautifully eye catching. They are wild-life friendly as they produce high levels of pollen,  however they do not attract butterflies as they do not produce sweet nectar.

  • Irish name: Cailleach dhearg
  • Planting: Bare cultivated soil, after casting, firm in or lightly rake
  • Sow direct in Spring/ early Summer or late Autumn
  • Likes: Full sun (or about 6hrs of sunshine daily)
  • Conditions: Will grow in most conditions, for best results grow in well drained ground
  • Seeding Rate: 1g per m²
  • Flowers from June-August
  • Height: 60-100cm
  • Attracts: Bees, hover flies and other pollinators. The seed heads will also attract birds
