Poppy (Papaver ehoeas) Seed
Bright red flowers and beautifully eye catching. They are wild-life friendly as they produce high levels of pollen, however they do not attract butterflies as they do not produce sweet nectar.
- Irish name: Cailleach dhearg
- Planting: Bare cultivated soil, after casting, firm in or lightly rake
- Sow direct in Spring/ early Summer or late Autumn
- Likes: Full sun (or about 6hrs of sunshine daily)
- Conditions: Will grow in most conditions, for best results grow in well drained ground
- Seeding Rate: 1g per m²
- Flowers from June-August
- Height: 60-100cm
- Attracts: Bees, hover flies and other pollinators. The seed heads will also attract birds
