Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) are a beautiful striking blue, annual flower. Often used in mixes or on its own, reaching 75-100cm in height and can be sown in spring or autumn. They are much loved by bees, butterflies and other pollinators. More details below.

Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) - Conventional Untreated Seed

This bright blue flower is very eye catching. Once a frequent weed in fields of corn and other grains, hence their common name. 

  • Irish name: Gormán
  • Planting: Bare cultivated soil, after casting, firm in or lightly rake
  • Sow direct in Spring or late Autumn
  • Likes: Well drained ground, lots of sunlight
  • Seeding Rate: 1g per m²
  • Flowers from June-August
  • Height:75-100cm
  • Attracts: Bees, butterflies, other pollinators. The seed heads will attract birds such as goldfinches
