Sunflower 'Sunspot'

Helianthus annuus is well known for its bright yellow flowers which follow the sun. This variety is a low-growing and non-branching sunflower which are just as attractive to pollinators as the full sized varieties. These bright yellow, green-centred flowers grow to around 20 cm wide and up to 50cm high making them ideal for containers and balconies. Each packet contains approximately 1.5g organic seeds. More details below.

Flower colour: yellow with greenish centres

Flower size: around 15cm in diameter

Height: up to 50cm

Growing schedule: Sow sunflower seeds from February to March under cover for early flowers. Sow direct outside between mid-April and early June.

Sowing depth: 2 - 3cm

Planting distance: 40 x 40cm

Growing conditions: Sunflowers need rich moist soil and a sunny place in the garden.

On-going care: Keep them well watered if grown in pots
