Organic Hyssop (Hysopus officinalis) Seeds

Characteristics:

  • Perennial
  • 30-60cm in height and spread

Growing schedule: Sow indoors from mid-March or outside in late May.

Sowing depth: Sow seeds at 5mm and cover only very lightly with compost. Germination can take 2 to 3 weeks.

Planting distance: 25-30cm between rows; 40cm between plants

Growing conditions: Hyssop prefers a warm, protected place in full sun in moist but well drained soil. It is a perennial plant and copes well with cold winters. It doesn’t have high nutrient requirements but grows best in light, well-draining soil. Excessive rain or over-watering can cause the roots to rot.  It does well in post as long as they are big enough

Harvest: Plants are ready to harvest when they are around 20cm high. Leaves harvested before flowering will have more intense flavour. Harvest continuously to keep the plant bushy and the leaves tender.

Number of seeds: Each packet contains 0.1g of organic seed.
