Characteristics:

  • Annual
  • Red-brown leaves
  • Height: 30cm

Growing schedule: Sow under cover from April to June. Basil seedlings can be planted outside once temperatures have warmed up and all risk of frost has passed - but they will do far better in a polytunnel or on a warm windowsill inside.

Sowing depth: 3-5mm

Germination: Basil seeds need warmth to germinate – at least 18°C, but preferably from 21-24°C.

Planting distance: 30 x 20cm

Growing conditions: Basil requires warmth, full sun and moist, rich, well-draining soil.

Harvest: Once plants are mature, pick leaves as needed, always leaving the two lowest true leaves so that the plant can continue to grow.

Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 750 organic seeds, enough for 10m².
