Edible Chrysanthemum 'Shungiku'
Shungiku (Glebionis coronaria) is a species of annual edible chrysanthemum with shoots of up to 100 cm. The 10-20 cm long shoots can be used fresh in salad or steamed as a vegetable. The buds and flowers are also edible. It can be cut repeatedly, providing high yields and is an ideal addition to baby leaf salad. Each packet contains approximately 2000 seeds. More details below.

Growing schedule: Sow in pots or trays from February to mid-August for planting outdoors between March and September. For over-wintering under cover, sow in September and plant indoors in October. It is possible to sow direct between March and July if necessary.
Planting distance: 30 x 10cm
Germination: Ideal germination temperature is around 15°C.
Growing conditions: Edible Chrysanthemum likes an open, sunny position. It can survive in a variety of soil conditions but prefers well-draining soil. It would commonly grow wild in sandy or gravelly areas.
