Organic Coriander Split Seed for Microgreens

Coriander microgreens have exactly the same taste as coriander proper! They also have the advantage of not running to seed as they never grow large enough.    These lovely leaves make a fantastic garnish to any Asian dish and can pep up any salad – just don’t overdo it! Very good with guacamole or in salsa.

Regular seed is actually the whole seed-pod that contains two or more seeds. For monogerm or split seed, the pods are split open to collect the single seeds. Many growers prefer split seed for precision planting and a higher seed count per kilo. Germination is quicker and more consistent than unsplit seed.

Coriander is also called Cilantro or Chinese parsley.

Growing Time: 14 - 21 Days

Ideal Temperature: 20°C

Seeding Rate: 8 - 9g per small seed tray or 35g per microgreen tray

Pre Soak: 8 - 12 Hours

How To Grow:

  • Fill a tray with compost. Firm into tray and moisten the soil.
  • It is advisable to use a micro biologically tested compost such as Klasmann Peat Free Seed Compost to ensure there are no pathogens present.
  • Soak the seeds for 8-12 hours. Rinse and drain the seeds well.
  • Sprinkle the seeds evenly over compost and press down gently and spray surface with water.
  • Cover with a fine layer of compost.
  • Cover seeds with another tray to keep in darkness for 5-8 days or until germination occurs.
  • Keep the compost moist but don’t overdo it - coriander is very vulnerable to over-watering. You should see signs of germination after several days.
  • Best kept at a steady temperature of about 20C°.
  • Can be cut after about 14 days but waiting longer will let true leaves develop fully.

Harvesting:

When you are happy with your crop then cut your basil greens close to the compost and gently rinse off any compost. If you feel they are getting too big they can all be harvested all together and stored in a container in the fridge to keep fresh.
