Alfalfa (Medicago sativa), also called lucerne, is a perennial flowering plant in the pea family Fabaceae cultivated as an important forage crop in many countries around the world. Organic Alfalfa Seed

Alfalfa, or Lucerne, is a long term nitrogen fixer and high protein fodder crop. It needs free draining alkaline soil to do well. The leaves of lucerne will die off over the winter months but the plants will regenerate from their crows in the following spring. Slow to take off but but persistent and can take being topped when established.
