Tall Fescue (Festuca arundinacea) Seed

This type of grass is drought-tolerant and does not require a lot of fertilisation. It is easy to care for and adaptable to many types of soil.

Special Features:

• Good choice for play areas and lawns; can handle foot traffic well.
• For use as pasture fodder for grazing animals.
• Fescue grass spreads by vertical shoots called "tillers"
• The roots develop a very deep system; tolerant of drought, damp and frost
• Very frost tolerant.
• Adds drought and damp resistance to a sward.
• Very persistent and long lived grass.
• Good species for out wintering cattle.
• Has stiff, broad leaves up to 10mm wide.
• Height: 60 - 200mm in height.
• Flowering time: from June - August.

Management:

• Tall fescue grass can grow in full sun to partial shade
• Needs a bit more warmth than other grasses to establish - don’t sow too early.
• Graze regularly to prevent from becoming coarse.
• Can become tussocky - this can be ustilised for enivonmental mixtures including cocksfoot and timothy to create habitat for birds and invertebrates.
