Ferrex Slug Lentils

Ferrex® is a professional slug-bait product innovation based on the natural active ingredient ferric phosphate which naturally occurs in the environment. Ferric phosphate is transformed in the soil by micro-organisms into iron and phosphate and becomes part of the soil. Used widely in all scales of agricultural and horticultural crops. Harmless to plants, people, insects, livestock and pets when applied according to the label.

Slug Activity

Slug infestation depends on moisture levels in the environment and soil, as well as the cultural practice (crop rotation, direct drilling etc.). When moisture increases, also the feeding activity of the slugs increases significantly, which thereby leads to increased possible damage. The ideal temperature for the development of slugs is between 14°C and 20°C, combined with sufficient levels of humidity. However, slugs are also active and dangerous to crops even outside of the optimal range of temperatures. Areas at risk for attack by slugs should therefore be checked well in advance.
