Axona - Untreated Seed Potatoes

This is one of the Hungarian Sarpo varieties: high resistance against blight, virus and scab. Not certified organic. Conventional untreated seed.

Axona Seed Potatoes

  • Red Maincrop
  • Vigorous growth suppresses weeds.
  • Red oval long tubers, cream coloured flesh; high yields.
  • High dry matter content means a floury potato with a good potato taste.
  • Pruning/cutting the potato stalks about10cms above ground level can help the potatoes mature early.  Do a test dig in September and begin to prune when you are happy with tuber size. Axona can become very big so pruning is highly recommended.
  • Allow your potatoes to stay in the ground for at least two weeks after pruning.  This will help them develop a thick, protective skin that keeps the potatoes fresh for months after harvesting.
  • A 500g bag of 35-55mm size potatoes contains 6-7 tubers for trying out. A 2kg bag contains approx. 24-28 tubers - enough to plant approx. 5-7m². A 10kg bag covers approx. 25-40m². A 25kg bag covers approx. 70-100m².
