Organic Marjoram (Origanum majorana) Seeds
Characteristics:
- Perennial but usually grown as an annual in cooler climates
- 30-60cm in height and spread
Growing schedule: Sow indoors from mid-March or outside in late May.
Sowing depth: Seeds are very small and require light to germinate. Sow on the surface and cover only very lightly with compost.
Planting distance: 25-30cm between rows; 10cm between plants
Growing conditions: Marjoram prefers a warm, protected place in full sun to partial shade. It is a perennial plant but does not cope well with cold, damp winters and so it is often grown as an annual in cooler climates. It doesn’t have high nutrient requirements but grows best in light, well-draining, calcium-rich soil. Excessive rain or over-watering can cause the roots to rot.
Harvest: Plants are ready to harvest when they are around 20cm high. Leaves harvested before flowering will have more intense flavour. Harvest continuously to keep the plant bushy and the leaves tender.
Number of seeds: Each packet contains 0.1g of organic seed.
