Brussels Sprouts 'Idemar'
Brussels sprouts are a traditional winter vegetable and are very hardy. 'Idemar' is an early to mid-season variety for harvesting up until January. Each pack contains 0.25g of organic seed. More details below.
Organic 'Idemar' Brussels Sprouts Seeds
Growing schedule: Sow indoors in March/April or outdoors in early May. Transplant to final position in May or early June.
Sowing depth: 1cm
Germination: Brussels Sprouts will germinate between 7-29°C, with 15-20°C the optimal temperature range.
Planting distance: 50 x 75 cm
Growing conditions: Brussels sprouts grow best in full sun and prefer fertile, moist, well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter. Brassicas can tolerate a slightly alkaline pH - add lime to particularly acidic soil, especially where clubroot might be an issue.
Crop rotation: Brussel sprouts are brassicas and should be grouped in planting rotation plans with other members of the Brassicaceae family such as kale, broccoli, kohlrabi, rocket, turnip, mustard leaf and radish.
Number of seeds: Each packet contains 0.25g of organic seed, enough for approximately 40 plants.
