Cabbage 'Dottenfelder Dauer'
‘Dottenfelder Dauer’ is a short-stemmed white cabbage variety with medium to large, dense heads. It has good flavour and is well-suited for eating raw as sauerkraut or coleslaw. ‘Dottenfelder Dauer’ is slow to develop but stores very well. Each packet contains 0.5g of organic seed. Organic 'Dottenfelder Dauer' Cabbage Seeds
Growing schedule: Sow in modules from March to early May for transplanting outdoors (after hardening off) from April. Cabbages should be ready to harvest from September.
Sowing depth: 1cm
Germination: Cabbage will germinate between 7-29°C, with 15-20°C the optimal temperature range.
Planting distance: 50 x 50 cm
Growing conditions: Cabbage grows best in full sun but can tolerate some light shade. It prefers fertile, moist, well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter. Cabbage can tolerate a slightly alkaline pH - add lime to particularly acidic soil, especially where clubroot might be an issue.
Crop rotation: Cabbage is a brassica and should be grouped in planting rotation plans with other members of the Brassicaceae family such as kale, broccoli, kohlrabi, rocket, turnip, mustard leaf and radish.
