Organic 'Neckarperle' Cauliflower Seed
Growing schedule: Sow in modules from February to June for transplanting indoors from March or outdoors from mid April to late July. Plant out after 5-7 weeks as seedlings left too long in the modules may be susceptible to 'buttoning', when a small curd develops prematurely as a reaction to stress. Where summers are very hot, early or late sowing is recommended.
Sowing depth: 1cm
Germination: Neckarperle will germinate between 7-29°C, with 15-20°C the optimal temperature range. Start early crops on a heating mat.
Planting distance: 50 between plants; 60-75 between rows
Growing conditions: Neckarperle grow best in full sun and prefer fertile, moist, well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter. Brassicas can tolerate a slightly alkaline pH - add lime to particularly acidic soil, especially where clubroot might be an issue.
Crop rotation: Cauliflowers are brassicas and should be grouped in planting rotation plans with other members of the Brassicaceae family such as kale, broccoli, kohlrabi, rocket, turnip, mustard leaf and radish.
Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 50 organic seeds, enough for 40 plants.
