Mizuna Greens
Mizuna greens (Brassica rapa var. nipposinica) have feathery green leaves with a mild peppery taste. They are high-yielding, vigorous and can provide fresh greens all year round. Mizuna is excellent in salads or stir fries. Each packet contains 2.5g of organic seed. More details below.
Organic Mizuna Seeds
Growing schedule: Sow indoors from September to March or outdoors from April to August. Sowings in September and early October can successfully overwinter indoors and be harvested from late autumn through to spring. Mizuna sown in winter will grow more slowly but can provide an early crop the following spring. Sow successively for continuous cropping.
Sowing depth: 1cm
Planting distance: Give 10-15cm between plants and 15-25 cm between rows.
Growing conditions: Mizuna is a cool-weather plant and tends to bolt in hot, dry conditions – keep well watered over the summer months. It does well in full sun but benefits from partial shade in the hotter months. It can tolerate most soil types but prefers fertile, moist, well-draining soil.
Crop rotation: Mizuna is a brassica and should be grouped in planting rotation plans with other members of the Brassicaceae family such as cabbage, kale, broccoli, kohlrabi, rocket, turnip and radish.
Harvest: Pick leaves when they are still young for best flavour. Mizuna can be regularly harvested as a ‘cut-and-come-again’ and it will continue to grow back.
Number of seeds: Each packet contains 2.5g or organic seed.
