Tomato 'Dorenia'

Dorenia produces lots of tasty, oval-shaped, plum tomatoes. The fruits are juicy, but firm, and hold their shape when cut, making it perfect for salads and sandwiches. This variety comes from Irish Seed Savers Association and was bred by biodynamic growers in Germany. Each pack contains 35 organic seeds. More details below

Organic 'Dorenia' Tomato Seeds

Sowing schedule: Sow seeds inside in mid-Feb to early April using a propagator, heating mat or lidded seed tray on a sunny windowsill. Plant under cover in late April or May.

Sowing depth: 3-6mm

Germination: Tomato seeds germinate best at a temperature of 20-24°C. A heated propagator is the ideal place to start off tomatoes early in the year.

Planting distance: 40 x 75cm

Growing conditions: Tomatoes need full sun and rich, moist, well-draining soil.

Ongoing care: 

  • ‘Dorenia' tomatoes grow tall and need to be supported with either canes or string.
  • Pick off side-shoots as they emerge and remove any yellowing branches below the lowest truss of fruits.
  • Once the first fruit has set, feed plants every week or two with a liquid feed high in potassium such as Vinasse Tomato and Plant Food.
