Endive 'Wallonne'
Endive is a bitter-tasting leafy vegetable which can be eaten both raw and cooked. 'Wallonne' is a classic frisée type, with curly narrow leaves. It is vigorous and hardy enough to cope with damp weather conditions and to withstand early frosts. This variety is recommended for baby leaf production. Each packet contains approximately 190 organic seeds. More details below.
Organic Endive 'Wallonne' Seeds
Growing schedule: Sow in modules from June until mid-July and plant the seedlings out after around four weeks. Sow in August for growing on indoors over the winter.
Sowing depth: 1cm
Planting distance: 30 x 40cm
Germination: The ideal germination temperature is 20-22°C.
Growing conditions: Endives prefer fertile, moist, well-draining soil but can do well in most soil types. They tend to bolt in hot dry conditions so keep soil moist.
Harvest: Endive is ready to harvest once leaves are big enough to eat. It usually takes 80-90 days to mature from sowing.
Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 190 organic seeds, enough for 150 plants.
