Watercress is vigorous and hardy, with fresh peppery leaves for adding to salads or garnishing dishes. It is a highly nutritious plant full of essential vitamins and minerals. Each packet contains 0.5g of organic seed. More details below.

 

Organic Watercress (Nasturtium officinale) Seeds

Growing schedule: Sow outside from mid-March until mid-June. For overwintering, sow indoors from late summer until early September.

Sowing depth: 0.5cm

Germination: Optimal germination temperature is between 10-15°C.

Planting distance: 5 x 20cm

Growing conditions: Watercress grows naturally in streams or other continuously wet areas. It is usually cultivated in running water but can also be grown in soil if kept continuously moist. Pots can be placed in trays of water to keep conditions wet – and flushed out once or twice a week to avoid stagnation.

Crop rotation: Watercress is a brassica and should be grouped in planting rotation plans with other members of the Brassicaceae family such as cabbage, kale, broccoli, kohlrabi, rocket, turnip and radish.

Number of seeds: Each packet contains 0.5g of organic seed.
