Pumpkin 'Jack O'Lantern'
‘Jack O'Lantern’ is a classic Halloween carving pumpkin, producing large orange ridged fruit up to 3kg in weight. It has sweet orange flesh that is also very good for eating. The plant is slightly trailing. Each packet contains approximately 10 organic seeds. More details below.
Organic Pumpkin 'Jack O Lantern' Seeds
Sowing schedule: Sow under cover in pots from April to June and plant out after all risk of frost has passed. Sow direct outside from mid-May to early June.
Sowing depth: Sow pumpkin seeds around 12mm deep. Sowing on their edge rather than flat may improve germination.
Germination: Pumpkin seeds will germinate at temperatures above 20°C.
Planting distance: Each plant needs 1m².
Growing conditions: Pumpkin plants prefer full sun and fertile, moist, well-draining soil. Add plenty of manure.
Harvest: ‘Jack O’ Lantern’ pumpkins reach maturity after around 125 days. Harvest before the first frost, in September or October.
Storage: This variety can be stored for up to four months after harvesting. Store in a dark place at 10-15°C.
Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 10 organic seeds, enough for 7 plants.
