Tatsoi

Tatsoi is a cool weather brassica similar to Pak Choi.  The dark round, thick leaves are very crispy and can be prepared raw or like spinach and is delicious in stir fries and soups.  Tatsoi is fast-growing and a good addition to baby leaf production. Each packet contains 1g of Certified Organic seed. More below

Organic 'Tatsoi' Seeds

Growing schedule: Sow outdoors from late Feb to early May and from Late August to Early Oct indoors for a Winter crop

Sowing depth: 1cm

Planting distance: 30 x 35cm

Germination: Ideal germination temperature is 15 - 22°C but it will germinate in temperatures as low as 10°C

Growing conditions: Tatsoi grows best in fertile, well-draining soil. While it enjoys full sun, it can benefit from partial shade in the hotter months. Tatsoi has a tendency to bolt in hot, dry weather so keep well-watered.  It tolerates cold weather but will not withstand a frost. It does best sown outdoors in early Spring so it crops before the hottest part of the Summer.  It is also excellent for an Autumn/Winter crops indoors

Crop rotation: Tatsoi is a brassica and should be grouped in planting rotation plans with other members of the Brassicaceae family such as cabbage, kale, broccoli, kohlrabi, rocket, turnip and radish.

Harvest: It is fast-growing and can be ready to harvest after 6 weeks.
